The energywork of the past for today
Reiki is a traditional, ancient Japanese energy healing technique. Reiki healing was established by Master Usui who found his own healing power by accident while on a hike. The tale tells that he bumped his big toe in a rock that hurt him very much hiking up a mountain, he laid hands on himself and asked for healing. After a while his hands turned very warm and in a few minutes he didn't feel any pain or didn't see any injury. He later started initiating practitioners by "tuning" them to the universal rhythm. Today there are many branches of Reiki as there are many branches of energy healing. This is one of the clear, effective methods that work even if someone doesn't believe in it.
In Reiki the practitioner is channeling universal energy aka "Ki", or "Chi" in the Chinese tradition. This energy is not guided by the practitioner but by the client, this means it goes wherever it is needed the most. It can't cause any harm as it is aimed to maintain life, however it can cause some discomfort in cases of sickness because it speeds up the recovery and healing which means the same amount of pain and process has to happen in a shorter time. Sometimes questions arise, or emotions come up during a session, these can be discussed with the practitioner or kept in silence. Sometimes the practitioner might have a vision or feeling come up that they may want to share with client and ask about their experience. Besides some verbalization, the sessions usually are very calming and relaxing. Our practitioner, Bori has been practicing Reiki since 2009, bodywork since 2013 and she is also trained in trauma resolution. She is working in English and Hungarian. |
