The overall goal is to balance the joints and soft tissues of the body, educate the nervous system, strengthen muscles and reinforce new movement patterns that are more efficient for your body.
Sports Event Massage
Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. The particulars of the sports massage technique are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice. Focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.
Combining advanced modalities like Myoskeletal Alingment, Neurosomatic and Muscle Energy Technique to balance and mobilize the joints of the body. There is a special interconnection between joints and the muscles that move them. If joints can't move, muscles can't move. Our first step is to balance the occiput and the sacrum so the spinal column is sitting on an even surface. We work on joint concentration in the extremities to decrease the possibility of injury and achieve higher movement efficiency. This technique also uses nerve flossing and stretching to decrease neural entrapment symptoms.
Balancing the Atlas and Axis
This treatment session addresses the misalignment of the neck and the ripple effect of this imbalance. We mostly work to realign the cranium on the first and second cervical vertabra (C1 and C2), and reconnect the movement of these regions to the rest of the neck. Very effective in treating neck and head aches, limited ROM, dizziness, ear aches, ringing in the ear, jaw pain, clicking, TMJD, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and after car accidents.
Postural Restoration is an advanced program, it takes commitment and hard work from the therapist and the client. Based on the premise that we are asymmetrical starting from our core (diaphragm), we are aiming towards moving symmetrical in this asymmetry. Moving in and out from left and right hemisphere, centering thorax over pelvis, cranium over thorax. After a thorough assessment we work with your breathing pattern to free up the rib cage, pelvis, and neck; solving issues thought to be "far away" in the shoulders, knees, ankles, and the jaw.
Elastic kinesiology tape can help you with pain relief, reduce swelling and inflammation, postural imbalances and dynamic functional problems. It is a safe and subtle technique to improve your health and performance. Our office is RockTape certified (Rock Doc Level).
Vacuum cupping or massage cupping can help alleviate pain stemming from the compression of tissues due to injury or inflammation. The lifting and separating of layers decreases pressure on the nociceptors and floods the tissues with lymph fluid and blood thus speeding up the healing process with less discomfort.
Balancing of the TMJ
This treatment session addresses the superficial and deep muscles of the face, mouth and neck to balance the movement of the temporo-mandibular joint. Could be a good choice for people with TMJ Disorder, bruxism, clicking jaw, off-bite or other soft tissue related issues.
Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation
Injury Management programs start with a postural and functional assessment to detect core problems and follow-up with a treatment plan. The plan usually includes massage therapy sessions, stretching and exercises in-office and at home.
NMR is based on the concept that even though the muscular system is a complex, interconnected web, the control panel is in the brain that writes and gives the command to the rest of the body. After an injury compensatory patterns develop but sometimes they stay long after the injury is gone. These patterns need to be reprogrammed so the original program can run again. Very gentle but active technique using muscle testing, short cross fiber friction and retesting until the perfect pattern is engraved.
Our lowerback-hip, upper and lower extremity workshops are designed for a group of people with similar areas of concern. Each program has a theory part about structures involved, stretching and strengthening exercises and self-care tips for maintenance. It is not a substitution for seeking medical attention.
